I could have sworn that my drivers window used to go one touch down and up. Right now it only goes one touch down not up. This was for the drivers only, passenger had no auto feature.
Can someone confirm? I spent the week with my interior apart but cannot imagine how I would have screwed that up. Maybe I am thinking of my wifes car.
Same thing happened to me! In my case I had an exhaust hose for a portable AC unit in the window. If the window encounters resistance before getting fully closed it reopens. If you keep telling it to close, after the third time it turns off auto-close. I didn't even think about that at the time just thought I'd finally pushed the switch only enough to avoid the auto-close...
From the manual:
Resetting the Bounce-Back Feature
The bounce-back feature remains turned off until it is reset.
1. Lift and hold the switch until the window is fully closed.
2. Release the switch.
3. Lift the switch again for one second.
4. Release the switch.
5. Lift the switch again for one second.
6. Open the window and then try to close using the one-touch feature.
7. Repeat the procedure if the window does not close using the one-touch feature.
Note: If you disconnect the battery, you must reset the bounce-back memory.
Hahah! Glad I am not alone on this one, thanks everyone! It was a minor thing but I hate when I strive to improve something and lose instead. This now looks like a win!
How hard would it have been for Ford to do it on both windows?
I know other car brands that people have been able to use a drivers side button in place of the passenger button and that gave it the same functionality but have no idea on the ford's.
They would just swap internals from another switch.
Only explanation there would be the driver side has a little RC (resistor/capacitor timed discharge) on the switch, but I doubt it. The Ford processing center is just looking for a temporary closure and has "debounce" logic in the code. I had a lotta fun back in the day with TTL.
Kewl! bounce back technology is why they can do that here! Thanks!
