Not sure this is the spot to ask...

On the top and bottoms of window stickers there are a bunch of numbers for information about the vehicle. Can you tell how long a vehicle has been on a lot from these codes?

It would appear the 2016 appeared on the dealer's lot 05-05-16? It appears bottom center of the sticker.

It depends on if you are looking at the online window sticker or the actual window sticker on the vehicle. The online view will show you the projected build date at the top and the billing date to the dealer on the bottom.
Format on the projected build date comes out as 1 2016 05 12 and the date at the bottom comes out as 05 05 16.
On the actual window sticker, you only see the dealer billing date at the bottom.

Based on the different types of shipping the Transit may take from the assembly plant, it could get to the dealership in 7 to 10 days after build date in a 1-200 mile radius around the plant up to 45-60 days based on railroad shipment & local truck/trailer or convoy delivery.

So I finally got an email yesterday from my dealer with a VIN. In the email he stated that the expected delivery is 3/6/17.

I punched in my VIN on etis.ford.com and it spit out a strange build date: 30.11.0002 Not really sure what this is supposed to mean. Any ideas?

A plugged number until your Transit is built and then it will show the REAL build date

10/15/16: I ordered my 148/tall
11/11/16: I was given a VIN.
12/16/17: apparently the build completion date
01/10/17: It arrived by rail in Benicia, Ca

I was never able to track it online (web kept saying the VIN was not in system). Ford chat updated delivery from 1/4 to 1/12 to 1/13 (l/10 was actual arrival, to the surprise of everyone).

Understand your ordering dealer has access to where the Transit is at all times via his Ford communications system. Once it gets on the railcar, it can be tracked having the rail car number. The Transit then goes to a regional distribution center where it is offloaded on the transportation lot then scheduled for delivery to your dealer.

How long after it arrived at the RDC did it take for the delivery to your dealer?

Heya Man,

If this is at me -- i don't really have details other than those above. My particular salesperson was fine, but didn't really know much about Transits. In the end, I got the price I wanted and didn't deal with someone I found unpleasant. So, that's something, but they really were not responsive to prying into the system to give me updates.

Well said, same situation for my order also. Just wish that Ford can provide more updated info online for us (who placed special orders with dealer code and buyer name to check often.

Ford relies on the dealer for the communication on your order rather than at the corporate level. You made the decision to go to the dealer to order it, so they leave the rest to the dealership.

That is one thing I liked about Matt Ford. Ryan Matt or Tom Murray always kept me updated on any changes on my ordered Transit. It stayed pretty much on build schedule and we knew when it would be delivered to their dealership. When Ford placed it on hold, they let me know immediately about the situation about the jack having the wrong paint on it. They made attempts to get it fixed, but they hit the same situations as buyers when dealing with Ford. I just happened to have a inside contact at Ford Corporate and got it done quickly and Ryan and Josh texted me within minutes of it arriving at the dealership. I was in Las Vegas at the SEMA Show when all the changes happened and they worked with me when I made flight changes from Las Vegas to Kansas City to pickup my Transit. Josh picked me up at the hotel the next morning and we went to the dealership, did the test drive, finished the paperwork, left for the BBQ lunch, then off down I-35 back to Texas.

Wish had known Matt Ford prior to my order in November. Would be willing to drive from Houston to Kansas City. ..
