If your dealer has not ordered or sold a lot of Transits, their allocation number may be low and they have to wait for what Ford has allocated them for accepting orders. Who is your ordering dealer?

Are their any special options you ordered on your Transit? Sometimes there can be delays on specific models like a High Roof or some Wagons with multiple seating configurations.
Thanks for the reply.

My dealer is:
Ford of Escondido, Escondido California. I believe the dealer# is: F71101

Order#: G189
My van with options:
R3X - Transit 250 GVWR 9000# High Roof 148"EL
J7 - Magnetic
99G - 3.5L EcoBoost
X3L - 3.31 Limited Slip Axle Ratio
63C - Heavy Duty Alternator
63E - Dual Heavy Duty Batteries
67C - High Capacity Up Fitter Switches
18B - Auto Lamp with Rain-Sensing Wipers
43R - Reverse Sensing System
544 - Mirrors short - Power Heated with Turn Signals
67D - Trailer Brake Controller (TBC)
64S - Wheels - Easy to Clean Styled Aluminum
17B - Fixed Rear-Door Glass and Fixed Passenger Side Cargo Door Glass
92E - Privacy Glass - includes Rear-Window Defogger
90C - Power Inverter
584 - AM/FM Stereo SYNC 3 with Navigation
53B - Heavy Duty Trailer Tow Package
96J - Premium Package (Van)
52C - Remote Keyless Entry Keypad

I asked the dealer at the time of order, if the order would have any delays because of the allocation, and they stated that it'd go right in. Not sure if the salesman really new what he was talking about. Seemed like these guys would say just about anything.

Thanks again.

Thanks, I'll give this a try.

Surprised you didn't order the 2 additional keys option 86F for $75 MSRP. If you think you might want to add it, go to the dealer and see if they can add it. That will tell you if your Transit is locked in on the build schedule.

The delay on your order may be the T-250 HR EL (R3X) model. Ford usually runs similar body styles together and they may be waiting for more of this particular body style to setup the builds.

I looked at the dealer inventory and don't think their allocation is the problem. Think it is Ford trying to get enough of your body style together for a multiple assembly.

Not sure this is the spot to ask...

On the top and bottoms of window stickers there are a bunch of numbers for information about the vehicle. Can you tell how long a vehicle has been on a lot from these codes?

It would appear the 2016 appeared on the dealer's lot 05-05-16? It appears bottom center of the sticker.

It depends on if you are looking at the online window sticker or the actual window sticker on the vehicle. The online view will show you the projected build date at the top and the billing date to the dealer on the bottom.
Format on the projected build date comes out as 1 2016 05 12 and the date at the bottom comes out as 05 05 16.
On the actual window sticker, you only see the dealer billing date at the bottom.

Based on the different types of shipping the Transit may take from the assembly plant, it could get to the dealership in 7 to 10 days after build date in a 1-200 mile radius around the plant up to 45-60 days based on railroad shipment & local truck/trailer or convoy delivery.

So I finally got an email yesterday from my dealer with a VIN. In the email he stated that the expected delivery is 3/6/17.

I punched in my VIN on etis.ford.com and it spit out a strange build date: 30.11.0002 Not really sure what this is supposed to mean. Any ideas?

10/15/16: I ordered my 148/tall
11/11/16: I was given a VIN.
12/16/17: apparently the build completion date
01/10/17: It arrived by rail in Benicia, Ca

I was never able to track it online (web kept saying the VIN was not in system). Ford chat updated delivery from 1/4 to 1/12 to 1/13 (l/10 was actual arrival, to the surprise of everyone).

Understand your ordering dealer has access to where the Transit is at all times via his Ford communications system. Once it gets on the railcar, it can be tracked having the rail car number. The Transit then goes to a regional distribution center where it is offloaded on the transportation lot then scheduled for delivery to your dealer.

How long after it arrived at the RDC did it take for the delivery to your dealer?

Heya Man,

If this is at me -- i don't really have details other than those above. My particular salesperson was fine, but didn't really know much about Transits. In the end, I got the price I wanted and didn't deal with someone I found unpleasant. So, that's something, but they really were not responsive to prying into the system to give me updates.
