Read My Story And Be In Aww! Must Read This If Considering Transit.
Ok Thank you for reading, this will be long and full of misspellings so just read for the knowledge and not my lack of english skills....
Im a retired chrysler engineer who worked for ford back in 1995.
I purchased a 2014 honda crz 2dr car new from honda and it was way too tiny and poor on gas i thought for being a hybrid, i saw a used 2014 ford transit connect with 26k miles for 24k$ at this dealer and tried to trade in my honda on the 2014 tc. They refused to take my new honda that i paid in full for on trade saying we cant resell it there not popular!
Woah i was pissed!
I ended up at ford dealer in may of 2015 buying a new but 2014 model loaded maxed out transit connect. Msrp 33,605.00 when purchasing i requested a alarm and hitch be included, so the dealer out sorced it.
On delivery 7 days later i pre delivery inspected the vehicle,,, rember i am an engineer in the automotive area! Found dash busted and glovebox busted, and interior panels damaged, and paint and fit alignments needing attention.....
I drove the car home and returned it on monday for them to start to fix.
The car was in and out of the shop about 1 month in the owner said he will unwind the deal but that means he would only cut me a check for my trade in, witch i would loose 8,000.00 from the 23,000 i just paid on the honda, after about 150 days out of service with me in 13 different rental cars but not all because the car, it was the service departments hacks and techs that kept damaging the car more than what it was in for!
Finally i get fed up, and talk to owner of the dealer again , they would trade it in and i would loose 8,000.00. Other than that nothing else was offered, so i filed a claim with the better buisness bearu, and also, sent ford a certified letter putting them on notice! As required by the lemon law.
Immediately after filing, ford dealer calls me and says come get your car, you filed with bbb and were done, return the rental today or your paying,
I went to the dealer got the keys and couldent leave! The car wouldent start, completely dead battery, boy i raised ****, you call,me to get my car and it dont even run! Wtf..... They wouldent write a new workorder for the car and just sent a tech out in the parking lot to throw a battery in it........
About 2 weeks in ford legal department called to schedule a last appearence on dec 16,2015
A few days later i got a call from the bbb mediator. He said ford is voulantary offering to replace my 2014 transit conect wagon , only 162 miles for usage will be charges at 162/120,000x 33,605.00 so like $50.00
Also i will get a credit of 105% of my 33,605.00 msrp witch is $35,285.00 tords msrp of another ford vehicle i choose!
Wow i totally accepted!
Im getting 35,285.00 plus all those miles i put on those rentals from may -dec 2015 and i get to keep putting miles on the transit connect until my ordered vehicle arrives! And only get a $50.00 usage fee deduction in my deal for a new car!
On 12-15-15 Here is What I Ordered.
2016, Short 130" WB Medium Roof XLT Ecoboost, with remote start, 10 way black interior, aluminum rims, sync 3 nav, tow, privacy glass, side step, in Blue Jeans Color!
Normally ford only has 45 days to complete this replacement process but they will grant an extension since the vehicle must be built, they said they may be able to push the order through faster being its for a replacement under the lemon law!
There waiting on the vin so they can start the paperwork number crunch thats done by a seperate division so the dealer cant screw you on the new deal, everything must follow the lemon law formula..... Good for me because i was worried!
I started buying and building my new van.....
Let me explain.
I plan on throwing away the seats in rear, adding the passenger swivel, limotinting the privacy glass, and installing my own rv kit i built...
It houses my toys,3d printer, queen memory foam mattress, and so much more...
Will have apple tv, microwave, and small sink, and fridge.
I will probably start boondocking in it next year to travel and go powered paragliding.....
Here are some pics...
Currently i was told acceptance was given by plant.
Next waiting on vin number....
Here is my breakdown
The new 2016 ford wagon msrp is $43,000
Minus my credit..........................$35,285.
Means i owe $7700.00 plus tax and fees plus my current loan payoff of 15,000.
So about $22,000 loan and my tradein of 2014 honda crz, im getting this new car....
Honda crz trade in was $14,500
Loan currently at $15,000
Means i will be paying around $32,000 for a $43,000.00 car!
I will get a seperate refund check from ford after the car is bought, for fees refundable under the lemon law.
And currently i have 6,000 miles and counting on the transit connect!
Expecting my transit wagon to be built and arrive in march,,, so will have around 7-8000 miles by then and still only paying 162mile usage fee!
Please dont ask whats wrong with the tcw as the list is way way to long and my fingers are killing me now from this long thread!
Enjoy these picks i will post!
