Installing Ford Running Boards

Has anyone installed the factory running board/step under the right side cargo door? I picked up one on EBay and all the mounting holes line up perfectly but there are no studs in the holes. I tried pulling off the rocker molding but only succeeded in removing the bottom clips. Pulling the molding out as far as I can without breaking off the remaining clips does not reveal any access to the inner rocker where the bolts should mount.

I would like to get the step installed before I mount my grey water tank as well as the exhausts for the Space and water heaters.

Thanks,

Ted

I was thinking that would be the best option. They used Riv-nuts to attach the capstan winch onto the front cross member on my old Land Rover so it should be strong enough for the step.
