Solar setup question

How do you setup solar and an alternator to charge house batteries? Do you run both of them into a charge controller parallel like a TriStar MPPT?

Alternator output does not go through solar controller. Most, but not all, solar controllers are designed for Solar input only; to do otherwise may destroy them. Alternator to house batteries are done either by 1) battery combiner relay, 2) DC to DC charge controller, 3) A/C inverter on car battery to D/C charger (or inverter/charger) on house, 4) probably more I can not think of. Each method has their proponents on this forum. Several threads go into details of options. Method 3 is Orton's style, which I copied.

I've made a flow chart without the buses and fuses. Is this on the right track? The Magnum Hybrid Inverter simplifies the whole install. I've been told that power at campgrounds is sometimes very bad and can give computers fits.

Maybe I'm not allowed to post pictures yet. So using a Balmer ARS 5 H Multi Stage Voltage Regulator between the alternator and the house batteries would work?

the inverter battery connection should have a fuse or circuit breaker to protect the wiring and the inverter

No. The Balmar regulator is designed to control a Balmar or equivalent (external field control) alternator by adjusting the alternator field and thus adjusting its output voltage/power. It connects directly to alternator. This means modifying the base Ford systems, which will likely lead to issues, even if it could be connected to the Ford alternator.
