I'm still not clear on WHERE this happened, I scanned pretty quick.
Texas? People seem to be talking about Texas.
This type of robbery is really rare, but they DO happen. As for all of them having guns, I'd believe that. All the bangers in my neighborhood pack. SF East Bay (pig latin for "Beast"). There are a few home invasion robberies here, but nearly all of them are targeted toward fellow gangbangers or other criminals who they know have cash/drugs in the house. I feel no urge to have guns available outside of a locked safe, unloaded. I'm not involved with bangers or drugs, so I'm not a target. I actually feel a little LESS secure now that the thug next door and all his homies-hangers-on are gone, no one was going to mess around on our block with them out there all the time rattling their trunks and smoking weed. And test-firing their handguns in the air every few weeks. Ah, the joy of living in the East Bay!
Someone mentioned before that these criminals don't **** where they eat, they commute to a town they don't frequent very often. Most of the arrests of people breaking into cars/stores/homes near Stanford University are people from my side of the Bay.
Best defense is to not have anything anyone wants to steal! And a big red van doesn't hurt, either (like my sprinter).
