Are you still living in El Paso? Sounds like a gang thing. I hope the police are more competent than they seem and catch these guys.

My apartment was robbed (we weren't home at the time) when I lived in the greater Los Angeles area. They stole my hand guns, wife's jewlery, the VCR, and my friggen Weber BBQ, low life scum.

The only reason the Police seemed interested was when I told them they had stolen guns. I called the Police station several times hoping to get some of them back, good luck, little to no interest from them at all. I never heard squat back from the Police.

Shortly after that I decided to move the F outta LA and it's been the best thing I've done. I live up in Ventura county (~1hr north) and there's very little crime here. You can leave your garage door open and come back with everything still inside. Not that I practice it, but that's how it is.

From your description they did sound experienced and not just some crack heads looking for quick fix funds.

I hope things go better for you.

****. That is some story. Glad you and yours are okay.

What sort of Subaru did you have? It feels odd for them to be that interested in a Subaru. I understand them not wanting a big red van, but being that insistent on getting the Subaru feels weird. Not doubting the story, just wondering what the **** is going on.

El Paso Police Dept...hit the news room, then the crime map. Took about a 3 minute search online.

There were two commercial robberies on Sunday and a few residential burglaries...which is what I suspect is what happened here. Do you live on Carolina Ave., Groovy? That's the latest house burglary at 8:30 p.m. Looks like a pretty violent town you live in there. It seems that Sunday was a relatively peaceful day...in regards to residential ROBBERIES, that is. That action fired up again on Monday, though.

If you live in El Paso, you were not subject to an armed robbery on Sunday...unless it happened at one of the two aforementioned businesses, at 4:30a.m. or 11:30 a.m.

Somebody walked into your house and stole some stuff and you dreamed this "Six mean black dudes" up. With guns! Go big or go home, huh? Of course, bummer for you and it's certainly fortunate no one was assaulted...but for cryin' out loud. "The dude with the shotgun seemed to be in charge"...nice.

Tell ya what Groovy...if this happened, there's a police report on it and the event is online, right now. Just throw down the police department that responded...if I can confirm the ROBBERY then I will come back in here, admit my complete humiliation and as a bonus, I'll never post in this forum again. Think of it, you'll never have to tolerate my smiling mug or put up with my loud mouth anymore.

I'm quite serious...I'll give you 24 hours to cough it up before I rescind my offer. I'd bet anyone a Grandad right now you won't be able to pull it off.

6 guys, that's like a posse or something.

I'm so glad you and your family are OK and at least you van is still there. Totally sucks about the Subi and loosing the photos on the phone. I always copy the photos off my phone to the computer.

I hope the Police find something of use and track the Mofos down.

Thievery just plain sucks period.
That is the way street thugs roll in numbers otherwise they are too chicken to do this on there own. I would suggest carrying a concealed weapon, that's what I did 3 years ago when my wife had to go to kidney dialysis 3 times a week which just happened to be in a bad part of town where they were having rapes at gun point and armed robberies on a regular basis. Can't expect the police to be there in cases such as yours, empower and arm yourself.

but they did not want van at all - maybe because its big and bright red -
I had hood on van open because I had charged battery earlier so maybe they thought van was broken-
Keys for van were laying driveway - found power cord to TV in the street the next morning--

Yep you are right unless you are a Hot white blond girl the TV news do not care-
No TV news or anybody showed up at my house- a girl had got murdered saturday or sunday
so that has been on the news --

I have to say I have lost ALL confidence in the police - the way they handled this was very poor-
the lady detective that I guess was in charge at my house totally did not take charge so there was 8 cops
wandering around twiddling the thumbs instead of driving around looking for robbers -

Detectives have not contacted me at all- I have called them 2 times and told them
I found somethings in the van that robbers touched for sure -- no follow up at all-

Talked with a neighbor who had something kind of similar happen to him -
He said police Never followed up or called him at all - he had Nothing good to say about police -

when my son called 911 he told them about what had just happened - each time
he said men with guns he got put on hold and transferred 4 times to someone new to talk to-
so 5 minutes wasted --

One cop told my son he was parked 2 blocks away writing reports and
said robbers might have driven right by him - only 2 ways to out of my neighborhood-

The street I live on is kind of a back street so I think it was maybe a random thing-
just driving by - watched me for a while -saw I was alone - easy target -
I dont know -

One cop told me that she was just at another robbery just a few minutes before
me and 3 men had robbed someone at gunpoint --

I would think police would be all over this because these robbers and going to end up killing people-
did not bother robbers at all going into my house - they acted like they had done this before -
they were relatively calm -

This is not the first time I have had a gun shoved in my face-
I grew up in El Paso TX and at the time it was the most dangerous city in the US-
Me keeping a cool head and not freaking out I think saved my life -

The robber that had the shot gun seemed to maybe the the guy running the show-
not sure tho they were ALL yelling shittt at me -

I only looked at the guy with the shotgun in the eye one time -
they say not to look at the robbers faces -so I made it a point not to look at them-

Cops wanted a description of robbers and all I could tell the was 6 dark skinned black men with masks
with what looked to be a 20 gage shotgun with a wood stock and 5 revolver pistols --
one pistol was silver - they were all about my size

I told cops that if there had just been one or 2 guys that maybe I could have
given them a better description but there was just too many of them -
cop said he understood -

as far as people in the back bedroom not hearing anything my sons girlfriend
was blow drying her hair - my son was laying down in bed watching his Ipad -

Many Many things could have gone bad - my son told me the dog was sitting by
bedroom door with ears up and listening -when dog barked he told dog to stop barking -
dog is well trained and does what he says - but dog knew something was going on --

Today I worked on van and helped my next door neighbor install video surveillance camera system
on the front of her house - she is pretty freaked out now -
but spent most of the day looking for a new phone -
dont think I going to get another Iphone - walking around with a $700 phone
is asking for problems and I really just used the camera and the bluetooth to listen to music-
so Im thinking about getting flip phone and I have a nikon cool pix that I like taking pictures with
better than the iphone anyways -

there is more to the story but Im tired - so I will tell the rest in another post
Yeah cops do not get worked up with robberies when all the murdering is going on. Sure am glad you are alive and well. As far as ass holes like Byron just place him in your ignore box, there are a few just like him on here just rude and ignorant.

Oh gee Dave...I suppose our dinner and movie date for Saturday is off then?

Funny thing...I can't think of a single person on this Forum that I would regard in a bad way. In fact, aside from the occasional head scratcher post I think this place is actually quite civilized. If you want arrogance and spite cruise on over to the F-150 or "Rate Your Music" forums. You probably wouldn't last long there.

We're all here to read and possibly comment on each others stuff, right? Groovy tends to be...a bit careening sometimes. Mostly I've had little to say in response to his posts, and I certainly don't let his "style" bother me at all. I would hope that both he, and now you, would be as indifferent to me as I am to him...and now you. Why be so bent about someone you haven't nor never will meet let alone with words? Hypersensitivity is a weakness, in my opinion.

In regards to this thread, I wasn't more than halfway through his OP when it started to smell fishy. I thought just to hang back and watch him paint himself in a corner, but I couldn't help myself...perhaps that's the arrogant bit, eh? Two kinds of guys in the world as far as I'm concerned...those that really like me and those that get all red faced and butthurt. No offense, but I couldn't care less for the latter.

Perhaps it's fashionable these days to let wild stories like this slide, but I'm old school...I'll throw down the BS marker every time I see it.

Well rest assured Dave, Groovy is going to come back in here and eliminate me for good...right?

Just gimmie the name of the town, sweetheart.
