Gidget the QuadVan

After 7 months we finally took delivery of Gidget. She is one of the first QuadVan conversion that I know of. If you count the time from my first post on this forum it has been 1 year. A true test of my patience.

We plan to document our build out via our blog and this post.

morey,

That tire clearance is impressive. How about a picture of the 4X shifter position.

It would be interesting to compare it against a stock 350 van. I'm assuming someone has taken a similar picture or at least measured from the ground to the fender?

It's way higher. At least 2" front and 3+ rear.

I have a really nice pickup truck...now I'm starting to think bad thoughts.

'16 T150-148" MR-Caribou-3.5EB-3.73LS-Premium Pkg-Leather-Side and back glass-Alloys-Block heater-Short power heat + sig-Reverse sensors. Here comes the painter with the real nice van...
Ordered 10/26
Built 12/23...in transit two days later
ETA Jan 13-19
Laid before my feet on Jan 14
I'd put a TRUMP bumper sticker on it, but I'm quite certain it would be vandalized.

When I finally order my Transit, I would really love for it to take a detour on delivery, to the Quadvan facility!
One thing I see in your photos is a bummer - it is already difficult enough getting from drivers seat to back area, due to the poor choice by Ford on the parking brake handle location. Now, if I want 4X4, I also have to have that extra shift lever in the way! I wish they would find an alternate location for it.

Does Quigley put the shifter in that spot?

Yes, this is the biggest issue I have with the QuadVan conversion so far. I'm afraid it may not allow me to install a swivel for the passenger seat. I plan on attempting a http://swivelsrus.com/ install this weekend and it was already going to be a challenge since I have the power seats.

A different location or an electric shifter would have been preferred.

morey,

I remember from my post long ago, after talking with Quigley, their shifter was removable. It was threaded on the end and screwed in to the floor housing, so it could be moved out of the way when not needed. Is perhaps, the Quadvan assembled the same way?
