So nobody else has experienced this? I don't want to make it sound like the engine ran like crap before; it was pretty normal, honestly. It drove like the truck that it is. But after was a whole different story.

Also, like I said, I've noticed the same effect on both a 2009 Kia Spectra and a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee -- so either this is really happening, or I'm a crazy person.

There are two big hills on my way home from work though (on a highway where the speed limit is 70), and the van used to jump down three gears and send the RPMs to 4,000+ with the cruise on to pull them at speed. Today, post oil change, it only dropped two gears and stayed just over 3,000 RPMS, also with the cruise on.
